Background

Manipur 2027: what to know

The BJP holds a majority of seats won in 2022, though the assembly's composition and alliance arithmetic have shifted since then. The National People's Party, Naga People's Front, Janata Dal (United), and Congress are among the other parties active in the state. Reconciliation between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, rehabilitation of the displaced, and restoration of normalcy are expected to be defining issues for the 2027 election.
